Ground-Breaking Advances in Data Capture Technologies
The groundwork for GTG was laid more than 15 years ago when co-founder Mark Walch was able to significantly reduce costs in major commercial building renovations with a breakthrough design technology. Simply scanning old architectural drawings into a computer didn’t provide the utility of drawings built from scratch on modern Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. His solution was to vectorize the engineering drawings— convert the design objects into mathematical representations— thereby allowing architects to capture the information in the drawings and fully manipulate the content, just as they were able to do with drawings created on CAD systems.
Success with various vector applications led to handwriting recognition breakthroughs supporting complex, high-volume U.S. Postal Service operations. Over the years, the technology matured in many operational settings - data capture in the credit card industry, remittance processing, and mail sorting. Derivative techniques created a new generation of U.S. Census Bureau maps based on dramatically improved underlying vector data sets.
Today, GTG enjoys a reputation of delivering cutting edge solutions to our customers’ most challenging technical and business problems.
